What is a 3 Phase Generator?A 3 phase generator provides power and electricity to applications when a power grid or electrical outlet are not available. A 3 phase generator is utilized when greater or stronger amounts of electricity and equipment needing power are required. There are typically two types of phase generators; single and three phase and both offer different variations of volts ranging from 120V to 480V. 3 phase generators are more powerful than a one phase or single generator. 3 Phase generators are best suited for applications in construction and industrial markets. The marine and military also benefit from a 3 phase generator when it is used for large applications such as ships. 3 phase generators are a more cost effective and a efficient use of transporting power through three conductors at various times rather than a single conductor thus, producing greater power source. Three phase generators are able to provide continuous power rather than alternating or pulsating each cycle. This occurs by three conductors alternating volts that are out of phase by one third of the cycle. A delay between the phases (conductors) results in offering uninterrupted, steady, strong power.
